It is an integral part of fire fighting system. It is said that the first 5 minutes are more important than next 5 hours. Fire can be easily extinguished in its incipient stage.
It is installed in the building to warm the people so that evacuation becomes easy.
The smoke and heat detectors detect the fire and activate the alarm.
For residential buildings alarm system to be provided if it is above 15 M. For commercial building system to be provided for the building above 35 M. If the building above 35 M, provision of heat and smoke detectors to be made.
Most fire alarm system consists of following components:
- Fire Alarm control panel.
- Primary power supply.
- Secondary (backup) power supply.
Conventional fire alarm system include a number of different ‘Zones’ that are hardwired to your center control panel.
These system allow you to be able put separate fire alarms in each section of your building and helps to monitor if an alarm is broken.
Conventional fire alarm systems and its components are all wired to the same cable that connects them to the fire control panel. The control panel displays a signal when these components activate.
These types of systems are in-expensive and work well for small buildings.
The main problem with conventional alarm system is that when a fire alarm component produces a signal, it appears on the panel but there is no way to know which component of the building it is.
These fire alarm systems are also called as ‘intelligent system’ as they monitor the fire alarms in your building.
Addressable system allows you to choose between automatic and manual alarm.
Each alarm installed in this fire system has its own address, which allows you to see which alarm is working and which is failing.
They are more expensive because of its monitoring features.
